The artist no longer fully believes in Christianity. There are questions about why God would allow difficult things to happen, and why some prayers feel unanswered. The struggle is not about finding a final answer so much as making sense of the silence.

But there is another side to the story too. My dad sees it differently. Where I focus on the unanswered questions, he finds reasons to keep believing. That does not make his belief true, and it does not make the doubt false. It simply means two people can look at the same road and come away with different ideas about what they saw.

ANOTHER PERSPECTIVE

WHY MY DAD BELIEVES

Sometimes he believes the pieces fall into place for a reason.

Maybe we don't always know where the road is taking us.

One reason my dad believes in God is because he sees meaning in the way certain things seem to work out.

He doesn't believe that life is always easy or that everything happens exactly the way we want. Instead, he looks at the moments when something unexpectedly falls into place — the right opportunity appearing at the right time, a difficult situation eventually leading somewhere better, or two things happening in a way that seems almost too coincidental to ignore.

To him, those moments can feel like more than coincidence.

They make him believe that there may be something bigger guiding things, even when we can't understand it while we're living through it.

His belief isn't that everything bad happens because God wanted it to happen.

It's more that when life feels like it's going completely wrong, there may still be a bigger picture that we can't see yet.

Sometimes what looks like a dead end can become a different road.

And sometimes the fact that things eventually work out is enough for him to believe there is a reason behind it.

That's how he sees it. I'm still trying to figure out what I believe.

Maybe faith isn't always about having the answer. Maybe sometimes it's about wondering whether there's a reason you haven't seen yet.

SUNDAY SINNER

Where the road ends, another one begins.

TWO PATHS

Maybe we're both looking at the same road.

“What if there isn't anyone listening?”

“What if some things simply don't have an explanation?”

“Can I still search for meaning without believing?”

“Maybe the point isn't knowing which road is right.

Maybe the point is being honest about the road you're on.”
