FRIENDSHIP · TRUST · UNCERTAINTY

His Girl

I wrote this from the uneasy space between a close friendship, unanswered questions, and feelings that may be changing into something more.

THE STORY BEHIND THE SONG

What This Song Means to Me

I wanted to capture how complicated it can feel when someone is connected to a former close friendship and I don't know the full story. Late-night conversations bring a kind of closeness, but they don't answer every question. I'm left sorting out what I know, what I don't know, and feelings that may be growing beyond friendship.

That uncertainty can make trust feel fragile. The song stays with that tension without turning a worry or suspicion into proof about anyone.

Themes and Symbolism

The emotional center is the distance between closeness and certainty: caring about a connection while still not knowing what it means or where trust stands.

The Message

Unanswered questions can weigh on a relationship. I can be honest about that feeling while still respecting what I don't know and the privacy of the people connected to it.

02

LOVE · VULNERABILITY · RECOVERY

Scared to Fall Again

This is about starting to care again after heartbreak—and being afraid of losing the progress I fought to make.

THE STORY BEHIND THE SONG

What This Song Means to Me

After a previous heartbreak, I remember how badly it affected me and the unhealthy ways I tried to cope. When a new connection starts to matter, part of me wants to open up and part of me remembers how much it hurt before.

For me, this isn't only about being scared to fall in love. It's about learning to trust again while trying to protect the recovery and progress I've made.

Themes and Symbolism

Growing closeness and fear exist side by side. The "fall" is the vulnerability of caring again: a risk I can feel without knowing exactly how things will turn out.

The Message

Healing doesn't erase the fear of being hurt. It can mean moving carefully, staying honest, and letting myself consider connection without returning to old coping habits.

03

FAMILY · GENERATIONS · A DIFFERENT FUTURE

The Sins Stop With Me

I connect my family's experience with nicotine to the emotional battles I've carried—and to my choice to meet both with honesty.

THE STORY BEHIND THE SONG

What This Song Means to Me

I wrote about what I learned from my dad's and grandpa's experiences with nicotine, alongside my own emotional struggles. I don't see my family as bad people, and I don't see the past as a sentence. I want to understand where a pattern came from and make a different choice for myself.

The opening also reflects a painful period marked by rumors, friendships falling apart, betrayal, and serious suicidal thoughts. I wanted to be honest about how heavy that felt without letting that period become the whole story of who I am.

Themes and Symbolism

"The sins of the Father" is my metaphor for unhealthy patterns that can pass through generations, not an accusation against my family. The song's two kinds of pain—private emotional battles and family habits—meet in the possibility of choosing what happens next.

The Message

The past can shape me without determining my future. Recognizing a pattern is the first step toward choosing a different direction.

BURIED PAIN · ANGER · LETTING GO

If Pain Was a Grenade

I use the grenade as a metaphor for what it can feel like to carry unprocessed hurt until the pressure becomes difficult to contain.

THE STORY BEHIND THE SONG

What This Song Means to Me

I wanted to give a shape to buried pain: anger, hurt, and memories that haven't been worked through. Holding everything inside can make those emotions feel bigger and harder to carry. The song stays intense because that's how overwhelming pain can feel from the inside.

Themes and Symbolism

The grenade is a metaphor for pressure building around pain that has been kept in—not a celebration of violence. The image gives the feeling of being close to overwhelmed without making harm the answer.

The Message

Pain deserves to be acknowledged and released safely. It can be part of my story without becoming my entire identity or deciding what I do next.

05

LONELINESS · DOUBT · THE ROAD AHEAD

Highway to Hell

This is a dark, rebellious look at feeling trapped in painful circumstances, questioning faith, and wondering whether the road leads anywhere good.

THE STORY BEHIND THE SONG

What This Song Means to Me

I wrote about moving through a stretch of life that feels more difficult and lonely the farther I go. Painful experiences connected to school and relationships can leave me feeling misunderstood and trapped, still moving forward without knowing how to get out.

The song also holds my questions about faith. What feels like salvation to someone else can feel restrictive or frightening to me. I'm trying to understand the beliefs around me, not attack the people who find comfort in them.

Themes and Symbolism

The highway is the journey through that darkness. Continuing down it doesn't mean I know where it ends or how to find another road.

The Message

It's okay to question the road I'm on and the beliefs I've inherited. Searching for another direction can begin with admitting I don't have the answers yet.

06

ISOLATION · CHANGE · A FRESH START

Maybe I'm Supposed to Leave

I wrote about feeling like an outsider after painful misunderstandings, and wondering whether leaving could make room to begin again.

THE STORY BEHIND THE SONG

What This Song Means to Me

I wanted to capture the isolation of feeling misunderstood and pushed to the outside after painful experiences with other people. A turning point brings conflict and leaves me questioning where I belong and whether staying in the same environment is possible.

The song also turns toward questions about God and whether there is a larger reason for what I've been through. It keeps those questions open rather than pretending to have an easy answer.

Themes and Symbolism

Leaving means more than going somewhere else. It can mean wanting distance from the past, needing room to breathe, and hoping there may be space to rebuild. The song keeps the people and places behind those feelings private.

The Message

When a place or a chapter feels unbearable, imagining a fresh start can be a way of asking what else might be possible. I can hold on to the hope of change without knowing every detail of what comes next.
